Three Scots and a Portuguese! Together they are The Corran Quartet. They had planned the entire Beethoven Quartets Cycle for 2020, which sadly was cut short after just a couple of concerts! Fortunately they are now focused on restarting to rehearse together, and have a busy schedule for the rest of 2020 and 2021.
Their story.....after playing together in a variety of ensembles, and soon realising that their mutual passion was the string quartet repertoire, Ed, Kirsty and Molly (the 3 Scots) and Joana (the lone Portuguese!) decided to come together to form a new quartet, and so The Corran was born.
Since then they have been studying intensively with James Boyd and Catherine Manson through 'MusicWorks'.
They had the pleasure of performing in a variety of venues, from Fidelio Cafe to live on BBC Radio 3's 'In Tune', with St Pancras Clocktowe and some garden concerts in between.
The quartet is a new member of SoundUp Arts, an organisation that specialises in developing programmes for people with dementia. (sounduparts.com). As such, they are about to embark on a project to play for as many people as possible in various Care Homes in England, bringing live music to residents whose lives need nourishing and looking after.
In 2021 they are looking forward to starting a mentorship through Chamber Studio and to attend Chamber Lab as part of Britten Pears Young Artist Programme.
